Reading Response Chapter 4

Chapter 4 discusses the technicalities of photography. It talks about importing, printing, editing etc. I liked this chapter because it gives a lot of information about how to make sure your photos are the best quality they can be. We talked about this in class when Prof. Holcome showed us what happened to an image after a man uploaded it to Instagram 20 times. After a while the image starts to almost fade away completely. This is because every time a JPEG file is opened it loses pixels. The more times a photo is saved, moved or opened the more information it loses. This is important to think about when editing your photos.

This chapter also talks about the importance of shooting in RAW rather than JPEG. I'm glad that I've already switched over to the RAW file format because it really makes a difference in the quality of the photo. RAW files take up more space but it's worth it because all the information is there. A raw file just allows more editing control which is something I really like.
